چکیده

Abstract Irrigation with recycled wastewater can reduce freshwater demand and improve soil fertility, but it also increase CO2 emissions from contribute to global warming. This study investigated whether biochar mycorrhiza enhance quality in wastewater-irrigated turf. A factorial experiment was conducted four levels of (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5%), two (with without), types irrigation water (freshwater wastewater). Soil H2O emissions, moisture temperature, chemical physical properties were measured for 3 months. Biochar treatments significantly reduced by 19.4–45.0% compared the control treatment. The combination at a 1.5% level had highest emission-reducing effect. 8.1–14.6%, increased organic matter, carbon, total nitrogen, regulated EC pH, improved porosity aggregate stability. results suggest that be effective strategies mitigate irrigation. have synergistic benefits carbon storage conservation.

Effect of dolomite and biochar addition on N2O and CO2 emissions from acidic tea field soil

A laboratory study was conducted to study the effects of liming and different biochar amendments on N2O and CO2 emissions from acidic tea field soil. The first experiment was done with three different rates of N treatment; N 300 (300 kg N ha-1), N 600 (600 kg N ha-1) and N 900 (900 kg N ha-1) and four different rates of bamboo biochar amendment; 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 2% biochar. The second experimen...

The effects of biochar on wetland and agricultural soil carbon and nitrogen emissions in North Carolina

Executive Summary Biochar is an increasingly popular topic in environmental management due to its potential effects on several ecosystem functions. Specifically, biochar has been linked to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, including nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and methane when used as a soil amendment. It has also been suggested as a long term mechanism to sequester carbon i...

Biochar and denitrification in soils: when, how much and why does biochar reduce N2O emissions?

Agricultural soils represent the main source of anthropogenic N2O emissions. Recently, interactions of black carbon with the nitrogen cycle have been recognized and the use of biochar is being investigated as a means to reduce N2O emissions. However, the mechanisms of reduction remain unclear. Here we demonstrate the significant impact of biochar on denitrification, with a consistent decrease i...

Dehydrogenase and Catalase Activity of Soil Irrigated with Municipal Wastewater

Dehydrogenase and catalase activities were measured in a Eutric Histosol irrigated with municipal wastewaters (Lublin, Poland) purified by a two-step (mechanical and biological) treatment. Soil enzyme activity was used to test the biochemical status of the soil-plant system, the last step of wastewater purification. Three experimental fields, each of 1 ha area, were planted with Populus nigra, ...

Biochar Impacts on Soil Physical Properties and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Biochar, a co-product of a controlled pyrolysis process, can be used as a tool for sequestering C in soil to offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and as a soil amendment. Whereas the impacts of biochar application on soil chemical properties are widely known, the research information on soil physical properties is scarce. The objectives of this review are to (i) synthesize available data on s...
